Bath Open

Bath Open
I would like to say a massive THANK YOU to everybody who made the Bath Open sucessful again this year.
To all the coaches, helpers, parents & gymnasts. Whether you helped for an hour or to the stalwarts for the whole weekend we are very grateful. It was great seeing everybody helping on the Weds night before from sorting the raffle, to making sweetie sticks, putting medals on ribbons, counting leotards & sorting sheets.
I think we are all extremely proud of our Bath gymnasts who all performed skillfully with expression & poise which is also a credit to all our dedicated coaches under Sarah's lead.
The results will be posted shortly

Thank you
Ann (Chair)

Open Meeting on National Rhythmic Group

As some will know a number of gymnasts from our club have been invited to be tested for selection for membership of a senior rhythmic group which will work towards involvement in the Olympic Games. Sarah Binding our head coach has also been asked to coach the group.  The girls are currently waiting to hear who has been selected to be involved.  Once this is confirmed training will begin on a more formal basis.

This is a great opportunity for the girls involved and an acknowledgement of the high standards being achieved in the club as a result of the work that Sarah and the rest of the coaching team have been putting in.

As a management committee we would want to support this project but are also conscious of our responsibility to balance this with the needs of the club as a whole. The Committee has devoted a lot of time to considering how these two aims can be accommodated.  We have concluded that having this project linked with the club will be beneficial in many ways but will need careful management to ensure that the club continues to flourish.  Sarah has been working with the Committee to generate ideas about how we can maximise the benefits for the club and minimise any disadvantages which might arise.

We think it is important to have an opportunity to talk to parents about these and so we propose to have an open meeting at Culverhay on Saturday morning at 9am.

If you are interested in hearing more about plans for developments within the club and for club training, along with next steps for the group, or if you have any questions or concerns, please come to the meeting so we can all benefit from discussing this together.

If you are unable to attend but want to ask a question, please forward it by e-mail to Jenny Dennis or hand a note addressed to the Committee to committee members before the meeting.

We have some half term training for the competition squad gymnasts, who will be taking part in the Zonal Grades in March, the Ireland International, and senior group.

These training sessions will be held at the University of Bath, Claverton Down, in the Sports Training Village sports hall.

Please see the form on the recent email, select the session/s you will be attending and return before half term. You will be invoiced at your usual hourly rate.

Please note that there IS training from Saturday 19th February, and also Saturday 26th February, however there is NO evening training during half term. Training as usual from Saturday 26th February onwards.

Club Performance at Team Bath Netball League Match

We have been offered the chance to perform for Team Bath Netball. We will perform before the game, and also in the half-time break, on Saturday 26th February 2011. Arrive at 3.30pm-approx. 6.45pm.  Each gymnast is entitled to one free ticket for family/friend and other tickets can be obtained at  www.teambath.com/whats-on/tickets.

I would like us to perform ‘Grease’, as this gives the best opportunity for as many gymnasts as possible to take part in this performance. As we head towards our annual, ‘Bath Open’ Championships in the summer, and an internal club competition around Easter, this offers another great chance for the gymnasts to perform in front of an audience.

I would like to encourage gymnasts to take part in this performance, this opportunity is for all gymnasts, not just competition gymnasts, however all gymnasts wanting to take part MUST attend the display training in order to be confident of the routine.

Parents: please see recent email and reply if you want your daughter to participate.
